It was at the Secondary modern school in Stratton, just outside Bude that Tony was introduced to woodturning in the woodwork class. From this point on Tony always had an interest in woodturning.
Tony has had a number of jobs over the years including an injection moulder in a plastics factory, fettler (files the burrs of the mouldings) in the aluminium foundry, sharpening bandsaw blades for cutting aluminium, a wireman in the telecommunications industry working on new and extending existing telephone exchanges, a tester adjuster, being responsible for bringing the new telephone exchange to life and getting it accepted by the customer (BT).

 At the age of 32 Tony went back to college. After three years of studying Tony left college with an ONC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, an HNC in Electronic engineering and an HND in Electronic Engineering and Computing Technology.

1985 Digital Signal Processing Design Engineer.
1990 Tony started woodturning as a hobby
1996 Became a member of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain and the SECB woodturning club.
1997 Member of the Colchester woodturning club
1998 Accepted into the Guild of Essex Craftsmen.
2001 Active committee member of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain.
2004 First place for a Wall Plaque, Enthusiast class at the International Woodworking Exhibition.
2005 accepted onto the Register of Professional Turners supported by the Worshipful Company of Turners. Acceptance onto the register is by invitation only following assessment by designated assessors who ensure that the highest standards of work and professionalism are met. It is the only professional body for woodturning in the UK and enjoys a world wide reputation

Tony attends and demonstrates at a number of craft fairs throughout the year, ranging from small local village fairs (support your local community) to some of the larger events from north Yorkshire to Cornwall.
